Dr. Lora F. Hargrove, a native of Baltimore, Maryland accepted her call to preach in 1995. She preached her initial sermon at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Maryland in the same year under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend. Dr. Frank Madison Reid, III.


In order to be well equipped for the ministry, Dr. Hargrove entered the Master of Divinity program at Wesley Theological Seminary in 1996. Upon completion of her degree in 1999, she graduated with honors and was selected by the faculty to receive the Proficiency in Biblical Preaching Award. In 1997 Dr. Hargrove selected Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Rockville, Maryland to complete her degree requirements for pastoral training under the leadership and guidance of the Reverend Leon Grant, Pastor of Mt. Calvary. She subsequently united with Mt. Calvary as a member in 1998, where she served on the ministerial staff in a number of capacities, including preaching, teaching and leadership training, spiritual formation and Christian education. Since June of 2003, Dr. Hargrove has served in the capacity of Assistant Pastor of Mt. Calvary and oversees the a number of ministries including Christian Education, Women Ministries and the Health and Wellness Ministry, in conjunction with her other pastoral duties. In May of 2009, Rev. Dr. Hargrove earned her Doctorate in Preaching at Wesley Theological Seminary. There are many facets of the ministry in which Dr. Hargrove finds her passion. Her greatest honor, however, is preaching and teaching the Word of God with power and authority in such a way as to inspire, encourage and uplift the masses with the hope of Jesus Christ.
