Reverend Leon Grant has served as the Senior Pastor of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Rockville, Maryland since May 1987.

Mount Calvary is one of the leading and more progressive churches in Montgomery County, Maryland.


It was established in the Lincoln Park community in 1902 and continues to make a positive impact on the residents of Rockville, Montgomery County, and the surrounding communities of the Metropolitan Washington area.n Some of the community programs and services include a day care for children 2-5 years of age, a tutoring program for children K-12, health initiative programs and training for all ages, a shelter for homeless women with young children, housing for seniors and low-income families. The church also reaches out to the community providing special programs and services such as clothing drives, back-to-school supplies, assistance with food, rent, utilities, and emergency medical needs. In collaboration with the city, county, state and federal governments, and civic organizations, the church provides space for community meetings, conferences, training and health needs of the community.

Rev. Grant is a graduate of the South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. In preparation for ministry, he studied at Washington Bible College, Lanham, Maryland; Howard University School of Divinity, and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and received the Masters of Theological Studies in 1980. He has taken many continuing education courses and was awarded a Certificate in Pastoral Care by the Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Greater Washington, D.C.

He is married to the former Adranna Rose Huggins of Greenville, South Carolina. This union has been blessed with two sons, Leonard, daughter-in-law Laura, grandson Leonard David II, and two (2) granddaughters, Laila and London; and Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Micah.
